Tunisia has lost one of its most respected musical figures following the passing of Kamal Raouf Al-Naqati, a veteran singer whose career left a profound mark on the country's artistic landscape.
Born in Tunis to a family with roots in Kairouan, Al-Naqati developed a passion for music at a young age and went on to become one of the recognizable voices of Tunisian song. His breakthrough came after a celebrated radio performance that opened the door to a successful recording career.
Over the decades, the artist built an impressive repertoire of nearly 100 songs, many of which he wrote and composed himself. He was also known for performing in multiple languages, including French and Spanish, helping to expand the reach of Tunisian music beyond national borders.
Al-Naqati appeared in some of Tunisia's earliest television productions and performed across the Arab world, Europe, and North America, becoming an ambassador for Tunisian culture and artistic creativity.
Tributes continue to pour in from cultural institutions, fellow artists, and admirers who remember him as a talented performer whose contributions enriched Tunisia's musical heritage and inspired generations of musicians.
